Samsung’s new Smart Glow LED notification ring leaked on the upcoming Galaxy J2 (2016)

Just last week we first caught word that Samsung was working on a new notification system known as Smart Glow. The new system would use a special LED ring on the back of the device surrounding the camera sensor that can display multiple colors to signal users of incoming calls, messages, or other notifications. While we’re expecting this to appear on Samsung’s next flagship, the Galaxy S8, the feature should make its debut on the upcoming Galaxy J2 (2016).

SamMobile has today obtained new images of the Galaxy J2 (2016) which show the new phone in a gold color variant. While there doesn’t seem to be anything special about the phone on the outside, the new images do give us our first look at what the Smart Glow ring will look like.

At launch, the J2’s version of Smart Glow will focus on priority alerts such as messages and calls with specific colors assigned to certain contacts. The LEDs would also display battery information when charging and a “Selfie alert” when a face is detected in the rear camera.

The Galaxy J2 (2016), pictured below, should be making its debut in India next week, so we don’t have long to wait until we see exactly what Samsung has in store for Smart Glow. For now, what do you think of the feature?
