Google just made it easier to find music videos with prioritized Youtube search results

Finding a playable music video can sometimes involve a bit of trial-and-error, where the top link might be only a short clip, or indeed something unrelated that was mislabelled. To solve this, Google is now offering prioritised links to the first playable music video in a separate box above the remaining search results …

Search Engine Watch says that the featured result is usually a YouTube video (the site owned by Google, of course), but not always.

Though it appears Google is sending searchers to YouTube videos most of the time, Google pointed out that this feature draws “from multiple sources, not just YouTube – it highlights the first playable video in the search results.” Though results from other sites are given a much smaller thumbnail.

Results are also usually, but not completely consistently, drawn from the artist’s official channel.
