Chromecast now available in Australia, Belgium, Portugal and Switzerland

Yesterday, Google revealed plans to bring its Chromecast media streaming dongle to the Land of the Rising Sun, but the search giant isn’t stopping there. Today, Mountain View announced that its Chrome OS-powered entertainment stick is now available in Australia, Belgium, Portugal and Switzerland. As with other territories, Chromecast will offer support for local content particular to its market. Google asked some its international team members what they plan on casting and they offered up a few suggestions.

  • Australia: Aussies will be casting the latest antics from Rake available on Google Play.
  • Belgium: In Belgium, comedy fans will be able to cast YouTube star Za Ka’s latest sketches.
  • Portugal: Portuguese will be making homemade ice creams and chocolates after casting Sabor Intenso’s YouTube recipe tutorials.
  • Switzerland: Swiss music fans will be using the best speakers in the house to listen to local star Bastian Baker.

Chromecast’s SDK is available to developers worldwide, so it’s likely that residents of these newly added countries will have a stockpile of content to stream to their TVs in no time.
