Google introduces another Udacity course called ‘Developing Scalable Apps’ for Java developers

Google has expanded its catalog of online training courses offered in partnership with educational website Udacity with a new course called “Developing Scalable Apps,” teaching Java developers how to build apps using the Google App Engine. The course costs $150 per month to enroll, providing projects with ongoing feedback, guidance from coaches and verified certificates.

Just last week, Google introduced a course called “Android Fundamentals” aimed at beginners learning how to develop Android apps. The Mountain View-based company now offers a total of five courses on Udacity: Android Fundamentals, Developing Scalable Apps, UX Design for Mobile Developers, Mobile Web Development, Website Performance Optimization and HTML5 Game Development.

The course summary:

“You will learn about challenges of building applications that can serve hundreds of thousands of users, and how you can prepare for them as a developer. And more importantly – you will learn how to harness the power of App Engine – Platform as a Service, run by Google, so you can focus on your application’s features, not on managing infrastructure that runs your app. Let Google run and scale the infrastructure and do what you do best – write code!”

Google recommends that you have at least one year of programming experience in Java before taking this course.

A two-week trial is available.
