Google News & Weather for iOS updated with Notification Center news widget

Google has released an updated version of its News & Weather app on the App Store for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch with a news widget for Today view in Notification Center. Google News & Weather for iOS was released last month, providing users with a combination of local news, weather and a personalized view of headline stories.

The widget in Notification Center provides a quick look at the latest stories sourced from over 65,000 publications, including The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, The Globe and Mail and MetroNews. Tapping on an individual news story opens up the Google News & Weather app where you can read the article in full length.

To enable Notification Center widgets on iOS 8, simply scroll down on the Today view and tap the Edit button. Next, find the Google News & Weather widget and tap the green plus icon to activate it within Notification Center.

Google News & Weather is free on the App Store for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.
