NVIDIA’s Shield tablet has quickly become one of the favorites among Android tablet users, and according to a video the company has posted today, it’s about to get even better. NVIDIA today posted a video on its YouTube channel giving us a sneak peek at Android 5.0 Lollipop running on the Shield tablet. Throughout the video, NVIDIA promises that an over-the-air update with Android 5.0 will rollout to Shield users this month.
There isn’t a whole lot else to see in the video, aside from a new UI for the Shield Hub and Dabbler NVIDIA apps. The Android 5.0 Lollipop build running on the tablet is essentially free of overlays and bloatware. You can clearly see Google’s Material Design interface throughout the operating system.
As noticed by Android Police, NVIDIA’s demo is taking place on the LTE Shield tablet, which means that there should not be a delay between the WiFi only update and LTE update.
With Google and HTC’s new Nexus 9 tablet receiving mixed reviews from users, the $299 NVIDIA Shield could easily become the tablet of choice for users as we enter the holiday season, especially with Lollipop on board.
