Rumored Galaxy S6 Edge Plus will reportedly have a 5.7-inch dual-curved display

We’ve been following rumors claiming that Samsung is planning on launching a phablet-sized Galaxy S6 Edge—starting with a report from Italian blog HDBlog and then images leaked by YouTuber MKBHD—and today the story continues with new information from SamMobile.

The Samsung-focused blog is reporting on new information from “insiders” that the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus will sport a 5.7-inch display, not unlike the Note 4, and run Android 5.1.1 out of the box. Initial rumors pointed to a 5.5-inch display, but that information has seemingly since changed.

It’s an odd rumor for sure—if true, it suggests that Samsung is planning on launching what is essentially a Note phone but with the Galaxy S6’s design language and no stylus. We also couldn’t imagine it being any more than $50 cheaper than a new Galaxy Note, which is still expected to be unveiled at IFA 2015 in September.

Either way, it seems likely that Samsung has been spooked by Apple’s newfound success in emerging markets, particularly China, since the launch of the iPhone 6 and larger-screened iPhone 6 Plus. The Galaxy S6 Edge Plus (that name could be shortened down) could be an option for people who don’t see a need for a stylus but like the design of the S6 and want a larger display.
