Best Quick Charge 2.0 Android wall/car chargers and battery from Aukey

When the Nexus 6 was announced with a super speedy Quick Charge 2.0 feature last year, I didn’t think it would almost be standard gear in the Android flagship world less than a year later. But here we are and pretty much every new high end phone announced in 2015 with Qualcomm hardware on board has it. In hindsight however, it’s not hard to see why.

Fast charging is incredibly useful in the car, on the road and at work where you have minutes to add hours of charge. And Qualcomm chips are now nearly ubiquitous in flagship Android phones making it a perfect storm (full updated list of of Quick Charge 2.0 phones and tablets here).

Aukey, a value-priced, quality hardware manufacturer that sells mostly through Amazon sent me 4 Quick Charge 2.0 products to review. All of them work well but I found some nuances to consider…

Aukey Quick Charge 2.0 30W 2 Ports USB Car Charger Adapter – This was probably my favorite adapter. My car’s built in ports can’t keep up with the phones’ needs as I use Google Maps to navigate and pull music from Play down the road. Not only do I keep up with the Aukey, but after a half hour car ride, I’ve got about half a phone’s worth of charge…at least on the LG G4 and Nexus 6. Plus, there’s a 2.4A second port that will charge a tablet like an iPad at full speed.

Aukey Quick Charge 2.0 18W USB Turbo Wall Charger Fast Charger

Aukey Quick Charge 2.0 42W 3 Ports USB Desktop Charging Station Wall Charger /Aukey Quick Charge 2.0 54W 5 Ports USB Wall Charger. The three above adapters are great positioned where you might need a fast charge – like in the kitchen or office. They don’t really make sense by a nightstand where you are usually charging overnight. Again, if you charge your phone during your hour lunch break, you can go from almost full to almost empty.

Aukey Quick Charge 2.0 10,000mAh Portable External Battery – Another super useful product here. The Aukey 10,000mAh battery allows me to Quick Charge 2-3 Android phones’ worth of battery on the road. These are great for airplanes, weekend trips or anywhere that a power supply isn’t convenient. Definitely easy to recommend.

At the risk of sounding boring, they all do pretty much what they say they will do. Expect a full charge on any phone within about an hour and more importantly you can grab a few hours of charge in just 15 minutes. Now I’d like to see this tech make the leap to USB Type-C.
