BLU is a company well-known for pushing out budget friendly phones with less-than overwhelming specifications. But that’s all about to change with its upcoming Pure XL. BeauHD on Google+ has managed to get his hands on the device and reveal the specifications of a phone we’re expecting the company to announce at CTIA very soon. Judging on specifications alone, this could be the year’s true flagship killer, if the experience lives up to the spec sheet…
The BLU Pure XL will cost $349 to buy unlocked and SIM-free when it hits the market on September 29. That may seem like a lot of cash for a company that prices itself on low-tier smartphones, but the specs aren’t too dissimilar to those you’re more likely to see on a flagship phablet.
For that $349, you get a device with a huge 6-inch QHD (1440 x 2560) resolution AMOLED display boasting a pixel density of 490ppi and coated in 3rd generation Corning Gorilla Glass. Inside is a beastly octa-core 2GHz Mediatek Helio X10 processor coupled with 3GB RAM. On the back is a 24MP main camera with optical image stabilization, phase detection autofocus on a 1/2.3″ sensor capable of recording 4K video, while the front facing camera boasts 8 megapixels. There’s a generous 64GB internal storage capacity, expandable up to another 64GB via MicroSD. It even has a fingerprint sensor on the back. To keep it going all day, there’s a 3,500mAh battery on the inside.
It runs Android 5.1 Lollipop out of the box, and we’re expecting a retail launch to take place on September 29th, although a pre-order page should hopefully go live soon on BLU’s Amazon page, where there are already numerous low-end handsets starting at around $49. As soon as the official press release and store pages have gone live, we’ll be sure to update this article with the information.
