Speck offers Clear Protection for the new Galaxy S7 & S7 Edge

Site default logo image

Gold

Samsung’s latest flagship devices bundle in several new features and capabilities, and they critically cap off these additions with shiny new black, silver, and gold color schemes, so the best way to protect the new device is the award-winning transparent CandyShell Clear from Speck. Samsung has done many things to improve the reliability of the new Galaxy smartphones, including new waterproofing and dust-resistance technology, but the devices will still be prone to damage from drops, scratches, and nicks.

Roundup: 5 best ‘disruptive’ Android phones – flagship specs without the price tag

5-disruptive phones

I won’t lie, in recent months I’ve found the traditional flagship smartphone market decidedly boring. Although phones from the likes of LG, Samsung, HTC and Sony are all steadily improving all they time and — by all accounts — are very good phones, they all cost a small fortune. The price of flagships from the “big” manufacturers can be anywhere between $500-$900, which is a heck of a lot to spend on a small pocket computer. With the prices steadily rising, it’s created the perfect opportunity for smaller companies to take advantage and release great devices that cost less. In my mind, if it’s below $400 full retail, has a full HD (or better) display and an octa-core processor, that makes it a flagship killing, disruptive smartphone…

Report: Samsung Galaxy Note 5 to get August 13 unveiling in New York City

Samsung-Galaxy-Note5-Rendus-3D-00
For some time now it’s been predicted that Samsung will skip the noise of IFA in September and choose to launch the Galaxy Note 5 in August. We had heard previously that Sammy was planning an event for its flagship phablet on August 12th. Business Korea, however, stepped in this morning with its own information claiming the Note 5 is being launched just a little later than that.

According to the publication’s sources, Samsung will host an unveiling event in New York City on August 13, during which it will announce both the Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge Plus.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 announced, and it’s ridiculously thin

Galaxy-Tab-S2_White_5

The S2 will be available to buy across the globe from August.

Other specifications include an 8MP rear camera, 2.1MP front-facing camera and an octacore processor made up of a 1.9GHz quad-core and a 1.3GHz quad-core chip. The Tab S2 will ship with a fingerprint sensor built-in, 3GB RAM and either 32GB or 64GB inbuilt storage, expandable up to an extra 128GB. Alleged Galaxy Note 5 CAD drawings show Galaxy S6-esque design

Samsung-Galaxy-Note5-CAD

Evidence is mounting to suggest that Samsung’s next great phablet is going to take heavy design cues from the latest Galaxy S smartphone. NoWhereElse has published a bunch of CAD drawings which claim to be an accurate representation for the Samsung Galaxy Note 5. If genuine, it shows a device which essentially looks like a big version of the Galaxy S6 with a space to store a stylus.

We’ve seen several concept renders in the past, and even schematic leaks from case makers. This is one of the first which claims to be an official CAD 3D drawing. Like the S6 it features a central micro USB port on the bottom edge in between a 3.5mm headphone jack and a loudspeaker grille. Traditionally, Samsung’s Note series’ phones have the loudspeaker on the back.

Although we don’t get a good look at the materials used, it’s more than likely that — if this is a giant S6 — we’ll see heavy use of both glass and metal for the chassis and body of the device. We could also see a non-removable battery with Sammy opting to use a solid glass back which curves towards the metal edges.

Once interesting factoid to note: The 3D model points to a screen measuring 5.7-inches diagonally, suggesting that Samsung might not opt to enlarge its display real estate when the Note 5 is eventually announced and released later this year.

Check out NWE’s video of the 3D CAD drawing below:

Samsung introduced the Galaxy A7, one of the slimmest Galaxy smartphones equipped with premium hardware for a superior social experience, expanding on the popular services provided by the Galaxy A5 and A3.

Topping out the mid-range A-series, the A7 has a 5.5-inch AMOLED display, 2GB RAM, 16GB storage, a 13MP main camera and – in line with Samsung’s focus on social media – a 5MP front-facing camera for hi-res selfies (including voice-activated ones). It’s available in single- and dual-SIM models, the former getting a quad-core Exynos processor, while the latter gets an octa-core version …

WQHD display and fingerprint sensor tipped for the Note 4 in latest leak

Site default logo image

Bs1AsOfIIAA2Hm4

Leaker @evleaks this morning posted a tweet featuring some interesting APKs from the upcoming Galaxy Note 4 that reveals information about its hardware and software.

The list includes the usual suspects, such as S Health, S Music, and Samsung Link software, but two of the APKs might pique your interest. “SStudio_WQHD_K.apk” implies the new phablet will sport a highly rumored WQHD display, giving the display a resolution of 2560×1440. Also on the list is an APK titled “FingerprintService.apk”, strongly implying the fingerprint reader currently found on the Galaxy S5 will be expanding over to the Note line as well.

Other features such as “PhotoTable.apk” and “SmartSelfShot.apk” were also leaked, but it’s no surprise Samsung is going to be adding even more photo modes to the already saturated list.

Samsung compares Galaxy Tab S AMOLED display to its own LCD screen in new TV ad

[youtube=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i_BWNZriReo&feature=youtube_gdata]

While the iPad is Samsung’s usual target in Galaxy ads comparing its devices to the competition, to really show how great the new Samsung Galaxy S tab display the company put it up against one of its own LCD screens. Samsung just posted its latest TV commercial for the device (above) that it says shows off the “finer visions and truer colors” of the Tab S.

It’s not exacty a glowing recommendation for its tablets that use LCD displays, but it’s certainly a good look at what the Tab S display has to offer. You can check out our hands-on with the Galaxy Tab S here.

Samsung has officially unveiled what appears to be the rumored “Prime” or “Galaxy F” device we’ve been drooling over for the past couple of months. So where’s the big launch party and keynote? Well unfortunately, this device isn’t going to be widely available.

This is one of the most specification packed devices on the market right now, but only the lucky people of South Korea will have the opportunity to purchase it. The bad news is, your shiny new Galaxy S5 is officially outdated thanks to a device you’ll probably never have a chance to purchase…

Samsung announces its first Tizen phone, the Samsung Z – a hint of the future?

Site default logo image

z

About a year later than first expected, Samsung has finally announced its first smartphone running Tizen instead of Android, the Samsung Z.

While this particular handset is only launching in Russia initially (sometime in Q3), it’s notable in a couple of ways. First, the spec – while not cutting edge – is pretty decent. Powered by a 2.3GHz quad-core processor and 2GB RAM, it has a 4.8-inch HD Super AMOLED display (though only in 1280×720 resolution) and the fingerprint sensor that has so far been exclusive to the S5. It’s not the low-end spec many had expected from Tizen …
