Update: Verizon’s HTC One M9 will also get Marshmallow on February 16.
The onslaught of carrier-locked devices getting Android 6.0 is beginning. Marshmallow made its way to the AT&T and T-Mobile variants last week and is now coming to the T-Mobile HTC One M9 and Verizon Droid Turbo 2.
Earlier today, HTC’s Mo Versi tweeted that the One M9’s Marshmallow update received technical approval and that the OTA will begin next Tuesday. Unlocked variants of the One M8 and M9 received Android 6.0 in December, while many carrier variants of the HTC One M8 have already received Marshmallow.
In other updates, Verizon’s Droid Turbo 2, known as the Moto X Force internationally, is receiving Marshmallow now. Verizon advises that users have a strong Wi-Fi or cellular connection and a full battery charge before proceeding. For Moto devices, Marshmallow integrates features like ambient display into Moto Actions and attentive display into Moto Actions. For the most part, Motorola’s Android 6.0 updates continues to provide a near stock experience for users.
With so many carrier devices finally receiving the latest version of Android, March’s distribution numbers should see a great increase for Marshmallow.
