The GM 5 Plus is a ‘high-end’ $300 Android One device w/ USB Type-C, fast charging, more

Last we heard of Android One, Google was reportedly loosening hardware restrictions placed on manufacturers and planning a re-launch in the coming months. At MWC, General Mobile is releasing a GM 5 Plus Android One device that costs nearly $300 and has high-end specs like USB Type-C and fast charging.

The device has a 5.5-inch full HD Gorilla Glass 4-covered display and is powered by a Snapdragon 617 processor, 3GB of RAM, and 32GB of storage with micro SD card expansion. It has a large 3100mAh battery that can be charged via a USB Type-C connector that supports Qualcommn’s Quick Charge 3.0.

The device has a metal frame and textured back cover that comes in four colors. Its 13MP front facing camera has a flash and is especially meant for selfies. The rear camera has the same megapixel count, but has a dual flash. As an Android One device, it runs Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow and will get updates for the next two years.

Unsurprisingly, this device will cost under $300, nearly three times the price of most other Android One devices. The GM 5 Plus will be available at the end of March in Turkey and will later launch in 15 other countries.
