At a press event today, Acer announced several new laptops, including a new Chromebook, and a new 10-inch tablet in the Iconia Tab series. The Iconia Tab 10 is geared towards media consumption with a full HD screen, front facing speakers, and several software optimizations.

The full HD 10-inch screen uses MiraVision technology from MediaTek to deliver more colors and better contrast. Flanking the screen are four front facing speakers that deliver 160 degree surround sound. The tablet has a textured back with gold accents on the 5MP rear camera and speakers. There are no capacitive hardware buttons for navigation, but there is a physical key that sets the best audio and screen setting for the media you’re watching or listening to.

The tablet is powered by a quad-core MediaTek MT8163 chip with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage expandable via microSD. Its battery should last eight hours on a charge. The tablet runs Marshmallow, but has several Acer optimizations including a pinch and save gesture that stores links to Pocket. Lastly, there is a 2MP front facing camera.

Iconia Tab 10 costs £180 (~$257) and will be available in June in the UK. International availability has yet to be announced.
