Google is adding to its collection of customizable accessories with limited-edition Live Cases made by American artist Jeff Koons. At $40 a piece, they come with an exclusive collection of live wallpaper and will only be available through the end of June or while supplies last.
Unlike the custom-made one, these Live Cases are only available for the Nexus 5X and 6P. They are only $5 more expensive and feature one of three designs: Diana, Mailbox, or Bust. Koons is best known for his metallic balloon animal sculptures and these cases feature artwork from his “Grazing Ball” series — basically a sculpture in white and a blue metal sphere where the phone’s fingerprint sensor is.
These Live Cases also feature a live wallpaper of the ballet. Each day, there will be a new wallpaper that can be doubled-tapped in order to watch dancers recreate 28 moments from “Swan Lake”. Of course, users can just go to the Live Case Editions app to set their own wallpaper and customize the programmable button.
Each Jeff Koons Live Case is individually numbered and features an autograph. Google seems to be taking a keen interesting in customization lately. Late last month, they released a series of easily interchangeable bands for Android Wear.
