Part listing hints at possible ‘Edge’ variant of the Samsung Galaxy Note 7

In addition to reportedly having the Galaxy Note jump to 7 in numbering, Samsung might also be adding an “Edge” variant to the line up. A listing on a customs import site lists a “metal mask” attached to a model number that hints at more than one variant of Samsung’s phablet.

The listing seen on the Zauba imports site shows that a “metal mask” part for the SM-N935G is entering India for likely use in production. The previous Galaxy Note 5 has the SM-N920 model number, while the Galaxy S7 has SM-G930 and the S7 Edge is SM-G935.

At the very least, SM-N935G hints at the existence of another Galaxy Note variant. It’s possible that it might be a “Lite” variant, but Samsung views the Note line to be very premium with high-specs. Adding an Edge variant would bring branding parody with the Galaxy S7/S7 Edge. If Samsung is opting to skip the Note 6 for the same reasons, this move makes sense.

Rumors point to the Note 7 using Snapdragon 823 for the US market and a higher-clocked Exynos 8890 for the rest of the world, 6GB of RAM, and 32GB of internal storage with a microSD slot for expansion. The Note is expected to use the same 12MP camera found on the S7, have a massive 4,000 mAh battery, and a 5.8-inch QHD display. An Edge model might see a larger display with curved glass on the sides.
