It’s been about 3 months since Android Nougat first went official, and OEMs have already taken the new OS to new smartphones such as the LG V20 and Huawei Mate 9. However, we haven’t seen any big OTA updates from OEMs. Luckily, it seems like Samsung is preparing a beta update for Galaxy S7 Edge users in the UK.
As Samsung attempts to push the Galaxy S7 following the disaster that was the Note 7, the company is looking to further improve those smartphones, partially through software updates. Android Nougat brings a lot of extra functionality to the table on its own, but Samsung will almost certainly bring several of the Note 7’s unique features to the phone in that forthcoming update as well.
Through the “Galaxy Beta Program” app, S7 Edge, and presumably standard S7 users will be able to sign up for an upgrade to Android Nougat, although the early access isn’t guaranteed. For now, the app is available through Samsung’s official Galaxy Apps store, or as an APK over on XDA. Samsung hasn’t officially confirmed further details on the program, but we should learn more soon.
