Google Pay is now available in Germany

Google has officially announced that Google Pay is now available in Germany. There are currently 4 banks that support the service, although the list is certain to grow in the coming months: Wirecard, Comdirect, Commerzbank, and N26.

Whether you’re doing your daily shopping or walking around the city in the evening, thanks to Google Pay, your smartphone is everything you need as soon as you’re out the door. As of today, Google Pay is available in Germany and allows you to easily and securely pay with your Android smartphone.

There’s nothing all too complicated here — it’s just Google Pay… but in Germany. Everything works pretty much the same way. You’ll be able to make contactless payments with Google Pay pretty much anywhere you can find an NFC-enabled terminal. Google specifically mentions Adidas, ALDI-SOUTH, Hornbach, Kaufland, Lidl, McDonalds, MediaMarkt and Saturn.

You’ll also be able to pay online using Google Pay via the apps of various retailers. Google says Adidas, ASOS, Deliveroo, Flixbus and Ryanair have apps that support Google Pay now, with more on the way.
