Samsung’s new Galaxy Ring (and new foldables) may launch in July

After launching its new Galaxy S24 series earlier this year, Samsung unexpectedly teased its new “Galaxy Ring” wearable and, according to a new report, it may arrive in July.

ETNews reports that the Galaxy Ring will be fully unveiled in “the second half of July” at an Unpacked event. Samsung typically refrains from hosting full Unpacked events for a single device, so it seems likely that this same event would be the launch stage for the Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Fold 6. Last year, that event took place on July 26.

Date aside, the report mentions that Galaxy Ring is expected to be capable of typical health and sleep tracking functions as well as some more specific tracking for “blood flow” (as the translated article says) and ECG.

The report further notes that the Galaxy Ring will support “wireless payments” as well as “remote control of other devices.” The Ring would be available in eight different size types.

Beyond that, the report goes into details of Apple also working on a smart ring, but it’s only based on patents. There’s no concrete information right now on when, or even if, Apple would bring a smart ring to market.
