Waze adding alerts for speed limit changes, roundabouts, speed bumps, more

Waze is launching several more new helpful features for your drive with new alerts for speed limit changes, speed bumps, roundabouts, and more.

Rolling out starting “this month” across Waze for Android and iOS, there are six new key features. This starts with the arrival of additional types of road hazards including speed bumps, sharp curves, and toll booths. These alerts first showed up in February for some users.

Beyond that, other new road alerts in Waze will include notice for when the speed limit is about to change. If the road you’re currently on is about to drop its speed limit down, you’ll now be alerted before it does.

Waze explains:

No one enjoys getting a speeding ticket. Thanks to Waze’s up-to-date information about speed limits around the world, you’ll start seeing alerts when a speed limit is about to decrease along your route, giving you more time to slow down and safely adjust to the changing road conditions. This rolls out globally to all Android and iOS users this month.

Another perk is guides for roundabouts. When approaching a roundabout, Waze will tell you which lane to drive in and tell you more clearly where to exit. Waze will also begin showing better alerts for emergency vehicles stopped in or near the road. This will work in the US, Canada, Mexico and France.

New integration with Flash will also allow Waze to help you find parking with information including cost, valet and wheelchair accessible options, as well as EV charging all readily available. Waze says this will work in over 30,000 parking garages across the US and Canada in major cities such as New York, Chicago, and Montreal.

Finally, Waze will now show information about your preferred route to a place you regularly drive, even if that route isn’t the fastest one.

All of these updates are rolling out this month.
