Google Podcasts export tool live internationally, app shuts down June 23

Outside the US, Google Podcasts is shutting down on June 23 and the international export options are now live.

Google only shared “mid-to-late June 2024” earlier this week, but we now have a precise date “in all regions” rather than a region-by-region approach.

The migration tool is opening up today to international users. Opening Google Podcasts or visiting the website will reveal a new banner at the top of the app:

  • “Easily transfer your podcast subscriptions list to YouTube Music.”
  • “Download your podcast subscriptions list as an OPML file, then import into the podcast app of your choice.”

You can either transfer your subscriptions to YouTube Music or get an OPML file. You have until July 29 to use the migration tool, with US users having the same deadline.

Earlier today, YouTube shared how it wants YTM be the “ultimate destination for podcasters and fans.” It sees YouTube Music as providing the traditional experience (compared to video) that Google Podcasts offered.
