Days after Samsung’s 2022 releases officially started to see One UI 6.1 in the US, the Galaxy S21 series and Fold 3 are starting to get access to the company’s latest build.
The Galaxy S21 and Fold 3 technically already had access to One UI 6.1, though the upgrade was locked to parts of Europe and Korea. The Galaxy S22 and Fold 4 followed the same pattern before seeing an update in the US.
Samsung is including the entire Galaxy S21 series in the current US rollout. That includes the Galaxy S21, S21+, and S21 Ultra (via SamMobile). It also ropes in the Galaxy S21 FE, which offers the update to a more budget-conscious lineup. The Galaxy Fold 3 is also included in that list, though the Flip 3 doesn’t seem eligible yet. That’ll likely change rather soon.
One UI 6.1 debuted early in the year and brought a slew of AI features to Samsung’s newest version of Android, based on version 14. It was first introduced on the brand-new Galaxy S24 series and quickly became available on the previous generation, the Galaxy S23. Now, Oe UI 6.1 is extending all the way to the S21 series, which was expected but still good to see.
The Galaxy S21 and Fold 3 will see a healthy amount of AI with the One UI 6.1 update, though they might not see every single feature that Samsung has advertised. Generally speaking, older devices like the Fold 3 won’t be as capable, and can’t take on heavy features. The new update does, however, bring Circle to Search on the Fold 3 and S21 series.
