Fitbit Ace LTE update adds Family & Sibling Chat, new watch faces, and game

Ahead of the holidays, Google is rolling out an update to the Fitbit Ace LTE that adds two new types of chats and other features to the app.

On the communication side, Family Chat creates a conversation for members in your Google Family. It’s available on the wearable and Fitbit Ace app (Android + iOS), which has a new bottom bar. Meanwhile, Sibling Chat allows for direct messaging and calling on the Fitbit Ace LTE.

In addition to Home and Family Chat, that new bottom navigation in the companion app lets you access “Quests.” With Family Quests, “everyone’s activity helps unlock new challenges and rewards” to unlock virtual objects. On the parent side, step count is tracked by the mobile app.

For example, this Thanksgiving, you and your family can get active with Turkey Berserkey and collect all of the items you need for the perfect Thanksgiving dinner.

Similarly, there are now 50 more Daily Quests that teach kids about “about everything from sleep hygiene to nutrition.” New trivia tasks give “kids the opportunity to learn about everything from cooking to geography.”

The Fitbit Ace LTE itself is getting two new Noodle watch faces (Huey + Ziggle) that drop the characters for something a bit more generic. Finally, there’s a new on-device game called “Solar Sword” in Fitbit Arcade. Kids have to “swing into action to save their village from invading monsters.”

With the fabled Solar Sword, they can protect the village and shadowy dungeon from further attacks.

During the holidays (November 21 through December 4), the Fitbit Ace LTE is $50 off to $179.95 (Amazon, Best Buy) at various retailers, while bands are down to $14.99. Additionally:

And to avoid any family FOMO, from now through January 31, 2025, if you’re buying for siblings you’ll get 50% off your second Ace Pass annual plan.
