Samsung is reportedly planning on making some changes to its foldables in 2025, with Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 both set to include larger displays.
The Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6 were underwhelming releases in part because very little changed from prior generations. While the Fold saw a redesign to its hardware, the experience as a whole was largely unchanged. And the Flip 6 was a very minor change from the prior generation despite having a higher price.
According to Ross Young, an analyst for DSCC, Samsung has plans to change things up on the displays next year.
Apparently, Galaxy Z Fold 7 will feature the same display sizes as the “Special Edition” Fold that launched in October. That would put the outer display at 6.5-inches with the inner display up to an 8-inch panel, around half an inch larger than the Fold 6. Previously, Ross said that Samsung was still planning two separate Fold 7 models in 2025, one of which would be more expensive. It’s unclear if things have changed in this regard.
For the Galaxy Z Flip 7, the displays would also get larger. The internal display would be bumped up to 6.85-inches from the current 6.7-inch size, resulting in the outer display growing to around 4-inches. That’d be closer to what the Motorola Razr+ offers.
Samsung typically launches new foldables around July or August, with the company’s next launch event being for the Galaxy S25 and expected in late January.
