YouTube TV offers some users a 6-month price lock ahead of impending hike

Days after misleadingly calling a price hike an error, YouTube TV informed customers that it would be raising prices to $82.99/month. As many try to cancel, though, YouTube TV is handing out a 6-month price lock of the current rate for some subscribers.

YouTube TV started out at under $35/month when it first launched several years ago, and has seen several price hikes in the time since, stabilizing at $72.99/month in early 2023. But, starting in January 2025, the price for the base YouTube TV plan is going up to $82.99/month, and subscribers aren’t happy about it.

Many have opted to cancel their subscription in light of the price hike, and some are being offered a deal to keep going.

As reported by several users on Reddit, YouTube TV is offering a 6-month extension at the current price of $72.99/month. Essentially, it’s a price lock at the current YouTube TV pricing for a few more months as an incentive to keep subscribers on board for a bit longer. The offer to stay connected for a few more months is shown during the cancellation flow towards the end as a last-ditch offer. Before that, YouTube TV asks users if they’d like to pause their subscription.

This offer doesn’t appear to be available to all users – we couldn’t get it to appear – but some are taking advantage of it simply as a way to get some additional time for finding an alternative to YouTube TV’s new pricing.
