New Yale Smart Lock with Matter is designed for Google Home

In partnership with Google, Yale today announced the Yale Smart Lock with Matter. This serves as a sequel to the Nest x Yale Lock from 2018, which is being discontinued.

Aesthetically and functionally, the Yale Smart Lock with Matter is designed to complement Nest Doorbells.

I was kinda hoping a next gen version would include UWB support so the door could automatically unlock whenever an authorized tag walks up to it, without needing to worry about remembering a passcode or wherever.

Maybe they could do a companion device that plugs into the wall (so no need to worry about recharging batteries frequently) that you can set near the door to detect approaching UWB tags and push a Matter based unlock command to the door itself

Visually, they share a pill-shaped design with a 3×4 grid of circular (push-down) buttons for the keypad and three (Google-y) finishes: Ash, Matte Black, or Snow. Besides the Yale logo, there’s just a keyhole at the bottom, with entry code and app unlock also available.

There’s built-in Matter over Thread technology and up to 12 months of battery life. This is Yale’s second Matter smart lock and works with all certified platforms.
