Google reportedly working on ‘Pixelsnap’ Qi2 accessories for Pixel 10

Visually, Google’s upcoming phones look the same, but the big hardware hope is the presence of Qi2 wireless charging with magnetic attachment. The latest Pixel 10 rumor suggests Google is preparing first-party Qi2 accessories called “Pixelsnap.”

This is a big deal for me and one of the things I was really hoping Google would finally implement.

I have a wireless/MagSafe charger in my car now, a wireless charger (non-MagSafe) at work and the Pixel Stand 2 at home.

I have a case on my P8P now with a MagSafe ring applied as close to the wireless charging coil as possible but charging through that on my car's MagSafe charger now is still not consistent so getting Qi2 and with a official case that perfectly lines up with the phone's wireless charging coil will be perfect.

Also wouldn't mind a Standby mode like software feature and stand to possibly replace my Pixel Stand 2 for bedside overnight charging.

Based on “marketing materials” for retailers, Android Authority reports that Google is working on a line of “Pixelsnap” accessories. (It curiously doesn’t use camel case.) There are no other details today from that source beyond the product names.

  • “Pixelsnap Charger”: This could be a magnetic charging puck like what Apple offers for the iPhone. According to trade listings, this accessory is codenamed “STN4” with Qi 2.2 and Magnetic Power Profile (MPP) support.
  • “Pixelsnap Ring Stand”: “Ring” in the name is rather descriptive, but this might just be a stand to position your phone.
  • “Pixelsnap Charger with Stand”: An accessory that possibly combines the two. It’s unclear if this will end up being a Pixel Stand successor.

“Snap” certainly implies magnets, while “Ring” suggests the general circular design we’re expecting. The trade listings (shown below) point to one of the stands being available in Mist (white) and Rock Candy (black).
