Google is making AI Mode more ubiquitous with a new design that transitions users from AI Overviews, while Gemini 3 Pro is expanding internationally.
Previously, expanding an AI Overview and scrolling to the bottom offered a “Dive deeper in AI Mode” shortcut.
Google is now testing a new design on mobile where tapping an AI Overview’s “Show more” button automatically brings you into AI Mode where you’ll see the ‘Ask anything” bar at the bottom to immediately ask follow-up questions.
Google says the goal is that “you shouldn’t have to think about where or how to ask your question.” The AI Overview is described as a “helpful starting point.” Available globally, this is not yet live on accounts we checked today.
This means you’ll continue to get an AI Overview as a helpful starting point, and now you can also ask conversational follow-up questions in AI Mode – right from where you are.
It’s one seamless experience: a quick snapshot when you need it, and deeper conversation when you want it.
Meanwhile, following the US launch, Gemini 3 Pro and Nano Banana Pro in Google Search are rolling out to “nearly 120 countries and territories in English” starting today.
This is still just for Google AI Pro and AI Ultra. Subscribers can open the drop-down menu in the top-left corner for “Thinking with 3 Pro.” Gemini 3 Pro can generate interfaces that are relevant to your query like “dynamic visual layouts, interactive tools, and custom simulations.”
For Nano Banana Pro, make sure you’re using Gemini 3 Pro. Tap the ‘plus’ menu for image generation.
