Waze says it is rolling out ‘new’ features including speed bump, speed limit warnings

In a teaser sent out to its users, Waze has confirmed a handful of new features that are rolling out soon including speed bump warnings and more.

Waze says in an email that it will be “adding new features that enhance your driving experience and provide more information about the road ahead,” with the rollout happening “over the coming weeks.” The email outlines five “new” features that actually sound a bit familiar.

First on the list are some new warnings for speed bumps, toll booths, and sharp curves on your route ahead. Further alerts rolling out include a warning for emergency vehicles. Waze says this will notify you of emergency vehicles along your route in the US, Mexico, Canada, and France to start with. Continuing down the list, there’s a new alert for speed limit decreases on your route, helping you avoid a speeding ticket for entering a new zone at full speed. Waze is also improving roundabout navigation with instructions of which lane to use.

Waze will also be learning your route preferences over time, sending you down those while still offering faster routes in the case of traffic or other slowdowns.

If those sound familiar, it’s probably because Waze announced all of these in March 2024, with some having shown up even prior to that.

Waze said these features would roll out “this month” at the time, but they didn’t appear for all users. While many have since been forgotten, they’ve been popping up for more users over the past few weeks, with this email seemingly signaling that Waze has finally rolled them out widely.
