Google Chrome ending support for macOS ‘Monterey’ in July 2026

Google has confirmed that, starting with a release scheduled for July 2026, Chrome will end support for macOS 12 – “Monterey.”

Chrome 150 will be the last version of the browser that will support macOS 12, “Monterey,” with further releases requiring at least macOS 13, “Ventura,” to receive new updates. Chrome won’t stop functioning on “Monterey” anytime soon, but it will no longer receive security updates or new features.

Google has Chrome 151’s release scheduled for late July 2026, but that date could change. Either way, “Monterey” will no longer be supported later on in 2026. Google confirmed earlier this month that Chrome 151 would strip support, but a date wasn’t attached at the time.

Chrome 150 is the last version of Chrome that will support macOS 12 (Monterey). Chrome 151 (tentatively scheduled for release on July 28, 2026) is the first version of Chrome that requires macOS 13 Ventura or later. You’ll need to ensure your device is running macOS 13 or later to continue receiving future Chrome releases.

Older versions of Chrome will continue to work, but there will be no further updates released for users on this operating system. If you are currently on macOS 12 (Monterey), we encourage you to move to a supported macOS version (macOS 13 Ventura or newer) to ensure you continue to receive the latest security updates and Chrome features.

Apple released macOS 12, “Monterey,” in October 2021.
