YouTube TV for Android updated with new icon style

Following the Live guide redesign earlier this month, YouTube TV for Android now uses the new YouTube icon style.

You’ll notice these new icons for Library, Home, and Live in the bottom bar, while Cast and Search in the app bar have also been updated.

YouTube introduced this new look late last year for the main and Music apps. This icon style uses much thicker outlines. Some buttons (like Home) are now more detailed, but overall the designs remain the same.

When watching video, you’ll notice that play, next, and previous now feature rounded triangles, while rewind and fast-forward have also been tweaked. For whatever reason, the fullscreen and minimize buttons are disproportionately large.

Old vs. new

All icons in the app have been updated, including on the program details page, the Account screen, bottom sheets, and Settings.

We’re seeing these new icons rolled out with version 10.05.0 of YouTube TV for Android. It’s not yet available on iPhone or iPad.

This is a step towards updating YouTube TV to match the design of the main app and Music. For example, the redesigned Live tab features floating menus, but all other sheets that slide up remain docked to the bottom of the screen.
