Lenovo’s compact lineup of gaming tablets struck a chord on their wide release in early 2025, but the sequel was never made available outside of China. Now, another new Lenovo gaming tablet with an 8.8-inch screen is in the works with the latest Snapdragon chip and a huge battery upgrade.
On Weibo, as highlighted by NotebookCheck, Lenovo has confirmed plans to release its latest “Y700” tablet in the first half of 2026. Outside of China, this is the lineup known as the “Legion Tab,” which saw its last wide release in the US (currently heavily discounted) and Europe with Gen 3. This new model coming to China would be Gen 5, building on a Gen 4 release last year.
The new model, as Lenovo teases, has a singular camera on the back and a small bit of RGB, while having “Legion” branding across the back with black and white color variants. But that’s all Lenovo has officially revealed so far.
Meanwhile, leaker Digital Chat Station offers a couple of key specs. First and foremost, the next tablet would be powered by Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, the latest Qualcomm flagship chipset. Legion Tab Gen 3 was powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, where Gen 4 was powered by Snapdragon 8 Elite. The new model is also said to be powered by a 9,000 mAh battery, a big upgrade over the Gen 3’s 6,550 mAh battery. The screen is still an LCD, but at 165Hz.
Sadly, though, there’s no word on whether or not Lenovo plans to release a new Legion Tab internationally. This latest Y700 release is said to launch in China in March, though, so we’ll find out soon enough.
