After the US launch, Google is bringing Personal Intelligence to Gemini users around the world (excluding Europe).
Personal Intelligence can access text, photos, and videos from Gmail, Calendar, Drive, and other Workspace apps, Google Photos, YouTube, Search, Maps, and more first-party apps. This is used to personalize responses without requiring any additional user prompting.
Example use cases include:
Get tailored shopping recommendations: Looking for the perfect bag to match your new shoes? With Personal Intelligence, you’ll see a range of options that are tailored to your recent purchases as well as your preferred brands and style. The recommendations will even include subtle details — like purses with hardware that go with the new gold shoes.
Troubleshoot without the headache: Get help resolving your next tech issue — even if you don’t remember what exact product you bought. Just explain the problem and get specific debugging steps like power cycling or factory resets, tailored to the exact device model from your purchase receipts.
Navigate tight schedules with ease: Have a layover and need to grab a bite to eat? You’ll automatically get ideas that account for the foods you like, your exact arrival and departure gates, how long it will take to walk between them, and how much time you have before your next flight boards.
Create a custom travel itinerary: Skip the generic “top 10” lists. If you’re looking for hidden gems in Chicago, get recommendations based on your unique interests and past favorites, helping you uncover local eats and neighborhoods tailored specifically to you.
Discover a new hobby: Find the perfect activity tailored to your interests — even ones you didn’t realize, like poetry, knowing you enjoy reading and nature.
Personal Intelligence is explicitly an opt-in feature, and you can choose which apps Gemini has access to at any time. Afterwards, it’s enabled by default for every prompt, but you can disable from a new toggle in the Tools menu.
Today’s worldwide launch excludes the EEA, Switzerland, and the UK. It’s coming first to Google AI Plus, Pro, and Ultra subscribers, with free users getting it over the “next few weeks.”
