OnePlus officially says it is ‘evaluating’ its future in Europe

The future of OnePlus is becoming clearer as evidence of the company’s efforts to restructure comes from those who have left the company. The latest official word from once-global OEM is reportedly that OnePlus is “evaluating its regional roadmap” with evidence of a change in Europe’s market.

OnePlus has not outrightly denied rumors that the company is making massive changes. In addition to the exodus of employees – willing or unwilling – in Europe, it would seem the major region sandwiched between North America and Asia is looking at a future without the mobile manufacturer.

More recently, it appears OnePlus leadership has officially commented on the matter. According to a post courtesy of Android Authority, OnePlus commented on the matter and confirmed its product strategy and roadmap are up for discussion.

OnePlus Europe is evaluating its regional roadmap and product strategy. All users’ after-sales support, software updates, and rights commitments are fully guaranteed.

Who made the comment regarding OnePlus in Europe is unclear. The source mentions that the statement comes from a “business leader in the European region.” This would imply the quote comes from someone other than those who have recently made an exit, though recent statements have come from former staff on social media.

This same sentiment has been echoed by others with similar wording, indicating that OnePlus may have instructed staff to spin the mass exit as something planned. Previous reports corroborate that the company had planned to cease operations in certain regions. Europe is listed, though it’s unclear if more are to be affected.

Reevaluating could mean many things, but given the context of many working for OnePlus in Europe have suddenly left the company with a trail of farewell letters on LinkedIn, it’s clear that the brand is doing a little more than taking a look at what it could do differently in the European market.
