After we recently reported that OnePlus would leave many global markets, it appears that the house of cards is now beginning to collapse, as staff begin to be informed of OnePlus “reviewing its regional roadmap and product strategy,” including apparent layoffs.
According to a now-deleted LinkedIn post from a OnePlus employee, found and shared on the /r/OnePlus subreddit, the biggest talking point is that OnePlus Europe is “currently reviewing its regional roadmap and product strategy.” We have privatized this post to protect the former employee’s privacy. They go on to confirm that “a lot of” the unnamed European regional team are “looking for new employment” after a “comprehensive assessment of the European market environment” and cite “business performance” alongside “resource allocation” as reasons for this change.

This further corroborates our previous reporting that the company will leave many global regions and retreat to the Chinese market. However, there are still products launching in selected regions at the time of writing, which further creates a confusing situation.
Other recent reports suggest that OnePlus India is scaling back and has ceased sales in brick-and-mortar stores. Preferring to utilize online retail rather than sell in-person. As one of the biggest markets outside of China for the brand, this is quite a telling change.
OnePlus Europe has historically had a rough ride. Leaving several key markets, only to return on a smaller scale, and losing carrier partnerships across the globe. There are still question marks about current device support, further device care, and more to be resolved, which makes the radio silence from the brand even more egregious when staff are being informed that their services are no longer required in specific regions.
The last public notice from OnePlus regarding our original report still fails to mention any plans nor acknowledges potential shutdowns in Europe or any other region. We have reached out to OnePlus, but do not expect to receive a response on this matter.
