Google renames brand-new ProducerAI music editor to ‘Google Flow Music’

In addition to new features for Google’s new music production tool, ProducerAI is already getting a name change to Google Flow Music.

ProducerAI joined Lyria 3 as an additional music generation tool for artists and users. It was introduced as the next step in generation, allowing users to refine their music as a “creative collaborator.” That was in February.

Google just announced that the tool will be called Google Flow Music, dropping the ProducerAI name after a couple of months. In a post on Twitter/X, Google announced that the change would come with new capabilities to more fully round out the experience.

Google Flow Music will get new remix features that work with contextual prompts to change tracks, depending on the need. Google says it can replace and extend specific portions of the track. That could mean generating new portions or extending the generated parts.

Google lists out some very specific example prompts:

  • Extend a lofi piano intro into a massive dubstep drop
  • Try 5 variations of a guitar solo to find the perfect take
  • Replace multiple choruses at the exact same time

As for the name change, the tool now more closely mirrors the existing “Flow” tool for video editing. These Google Labs suites are now part of a distinct product family, rather than separate tools within the experimental pool. Google Flow Music is still powered by Gemini and Lyria 3, which also recently underwent a change that lets users generate 3-minute songs.

Google Flow Music is available to try now, along with the new remix features.
