Samsung Gallery is removing OneDrive sync months ahead of shutdown

Later this year, Samsung Gallery will be completely ending its integration with Microsoft OneDrive but, months early, the app is already removing support.

As spotted by SammyGuru, the latest versions of the Samsung Gallery app have removed Microsoft OneDrive sync. If you aren’t already using the feature, the option to set it up simply does not appear. Existing users can still sync their photos and videos to Microsoft’s cloud service, but it’s not available to anyone else. There’s no warning or notice in the app – just a missing option.

Winding down features by cutting off new users ahead of an incoming shutdown isn’t uncommon, but it’s a little surprising to see Samsung pulling the trigger this early. There are still over 3 months until OneDrive sync stops working on September 30.

In the meantime, you’re not affected if you already have OneDrive sync enabled in Samsung Gallery. For anyone else, the only option now is to back up directly from Microsoft’s app, or to use an alternative like Google Photos.
