Samsung’s app for Android XR-powered Galaxy Glasses shows case, ‘One UI XR’ [Gallery]

Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Glasses are not coming out in the immediate future, but new leaks shed a bit of new light on the first Android XR glasses.

SammyGuru has posted screenshots from the Galaxy Glasses companion app, revealing new looks at the Galaxy Glasses hardware – the Warby Parker model, at least – and the app you’ll use to pair and manage the glasses.

Perhaps the most interesting bit here is a look at the carrying/charging case, which looks like a supersized earbuds charging case more so than something like the case used with Meta’s Ray-Ban glasses. The case has an external light to show charging and pairing status, and the description implies there’s a portion of the case that would touch the glasses for charging, no wired connection needed.

The app further has a section for managing imported photos and videos, settings for various features, as well as a software update page that prominently shows “One UI XR.” That’s the same branding used by Galaxy XR, and is a customized version of the Android XR platform. Of course, with Galaxy Glasses being an audio-only product, it’s hard to say for certain what changes Samsung may make.

Some strings also hint at Galaxy Ring integration, with gestures that might control aspects of the glasses.

  • com.samsung.android.ring.GESTURE_ACTION
  • com.samsung.android.ringplugin.gesture.ACTION_GLASSES_START
  • com.samsung.android.ringplugin.gesture.ACTION_GLASSES_STOP

Google and Samsung have confirmed these glasses will launch before the end of the year, but an actual date is unclear. It’s likely we’ll get more information alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 8 launch next month.
