Samsung is shutting down two long-available augmented reality (AR) apps on Galaxy phones, with “Quick Measure” and “AR Doodle” both going away later this year.
Confirmed in Galaxy Store listings for both the “Quick Measure” and “AR Doodle” apps, Samsung will be shutting down these AR experiences on December 31, 2026. Samsung explains that both will be “returning with improved services in the future.”
“Quick Measure” is an AR app that lets you get measurements of real-world distance from your phone, while “AR Doodle” lets you “draw” on real-world locations through the camera app.
The shutdown will block new downloads of both apps, while also pulling the plug on any future updates. The app won’t just stop working immediately, but any OS updates will break the apps in time. Notably, Samsung seems to have hidden both app listings on the latest One UI versions, making them inivisible in the Galaxy Store.
Samsung says:
Please be advised that service for the Quick measure app is scheduled to be terminated on 31 December 2026.
After this date, new downloads and update support for the existing app will be discontinued. You may continue to use the app if it is already downloaded, but please be aware that some features may not function properly.
Additionally, compatibility support for the Quick measure app will no longer be provided for future OS updates.
We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and thank all our customers for their loyal use of the Quick measure app. We are committed to returning with improved services in the future.
It’s unclear when these replacement apps might arrive, but it’s certainly a shame to see these going away.
