Bose launched wired, yes, wired, earbuds with ANC for $99

The new Bose Noise Cancelling Wired Earbuds connect via USB-C and work with almost any device.

Bose wants to get back to basics, it seems – it just launched a new pair of wired earbuds with ANC, citing a rise in wired listening popularity. The earbuds connect to any USB-C device, using an internal, proprietary DSP to ensure they work in just about any USB-C port. With any source input, the earbuds output a fixed 24bit signal.

Bose is well-known for its Quiet Comfort lineup in recent years, but it didn’t start there. Still, the company can be considered one of the main players responsible for quality ANC in wireless headphones. After all, the QC35’s became the go-to travel option for some time.

This release, however, has literal strings attached. It needs USB-C to operate, not a 3.5mm output as most wired enthusiasts prefer at a minimum. That means you wouldn’t be able to use your own DAC/amp setup.

Even still, Bose’s Noise Cancelling Wired Earbuds will be a good option for those who need ANC without the battery anxiety. Bose says the earbuds have two microphones on each bud to power active noise cancellation. Quiet Mode blocks most noise out, and Aware Mode acts as a transparency setting. ANC can also be disabled.

The new wired Bose earbuds are available to pre-order starting today for $99 in Black and White Smoke. Bose says the buds will begin shipping on October 15 for those who order from the official website and Best Buy.
