After launching on the Sonos One and Beam last week, Google Assistant is coming to the Bose lineup of smart speakers and soundbars. An upcoming update will essentially turn the new Bose Home Speaker 300 and current 500, as well as the Bose Soundbar 500 and 700, into a Google Home.
Since our exclusive on Thursday that revealed the forthcoming Bose QuietComfort 35 II, a number of other leaks — like retail packaging that featured “Google Assistant built-in” branding — have confirmed our reporting. Yesterday, one person even found the QC35 II already stocked at Best Buy.
Update: The video that offered a clear look at the QuietComfort II with Google Assistant was removed from YouTube earlier today.
We’ve learned a great deal about Google’s plans for smart headphones over the last several months through app teardowns, and Google itself slipped-up recently by adding Headphones to its support website (and then quickly removed it). Today, we can confirm that the rumored successor to the Bose QuietComfort 35 will be one of the first pair of headphones to feature the Google Assistant.

Google’s US and Canadian online retail store is now selling several models of Bose headphones. Items sold on the Google Store are usually more directly related accessories like cases, chargers, and cables, but this launch marks one of the more broad expansions of the store.
There are currently four sets of headphones on sale. The cheapest are the SoundSport In-Ear for $129.95. Followed by the SoundTrue Around-Ear Headphones II at $179.95. The more premium SoundLink Wireless Headphones II cost $279 and Bose’s top of the line QuietComfort 25 cost $299.
These prices are comparable to the prices you would find at other retailers, like Amazon and others. They come with free shipping and all products bought from the Google Store come with an extended return window for the holidays. All purchases made from November 27 to December 25 can be returned through January 22 of next year.

With Google-owned YouTube recently launching its own streaming music platform, it seems that Google is poised to provide a solid challenge to others in the streaming space, like Apple’s iTunes Radio and Beats Music services.
Now the market is about to get a little more crowded as an even newer competitor prepares to enter the fray. Audio hardware manufacturer Bose is reportedly planning to launch a direct competitor to Google’s streaming services. The information comes from a job listing posted by the speaker manufacturer.
