With the Pixel 11 launch, Google promised a big Pixel Buds update in September. We’re now starting to see Gemini audio controls with the latest Pixel Buds companion app update.
After updating to version 1.0.981607934 of the Pixel Buds app, we’re seeing @Pixel Buds in Gemini as the latest Connected App. You can control “settings like EQ preset, ANC mode, conversation detection, and touch controls.”
- Hey Google, turn up the bass
- Hey Google, turn on noise cancellation
This brings up the Gemini overlay, with a “Connecting to Pixel Buds” message appearing along with verbal confirmation.
On devices without the app update, those commands just open the system Bluetooth settings page.
We’re seeing Pixel Buds 1.0.981607934 widely rolled out via the Play Store today.
The three other features Google previewed presumably require a firmware update. The Pixel Buds Pro 2 will get Dynamic ANC that adjusts to “compensate when subtle shifts in the seal happen,” like if the buds move in your ear. There’s also Pixel Watch sleep sync that pauses music, disables touch controls, and silences notifications on the Pixel Buds. Finally, you will be able to trigger Live translate by tapping your Pixel Buds.
