Samsung has officially announced its first truly open-ear Galaxy Buds with the Galaxy Buds On set for a debut in late October.
Announced on its newsroom in Korea, Samsung’s Galaxy Buds On are a pair of clip-style earbuds. Made popular by a host of other brands, this design clips onto the side of your ear, positioning the driver into your ear but leaving room for ambient sounds to come through.
Samsung says you can interact with Galaxy Buds On via “a light touch” at the back half of the earbuds while they also feature automatic volume adjustments, actively work to reduce noise leakage, and have upgrade call quality too. The whole thing runs on a Snapdragon chip and packs 9.5 hours of battery life.
Gemini Live is supported, just like on Samsung’s other recent Galaxy Buds, and there are also head gestures to answer or end calls, dismiss alarms, and more.
The charging case is essentially identical to the one used on Galaxy Buds 4.

It sounds like they will not be cheap. In Korea, they’ll sell for 299,000 won, which is over $200 USD. The release date in Korea is October 27 with global markets “thereafter.”
