A reliable source says that Nothing is building out its own AI smart glasses that feature ChatGPT integration, a camera, and two very different models.
WinFuture’s Roland Quandt says on Bluesky that Nothing is preparing to launch two new smart glasses models, and they sound wildly different.
One pair would be similar to the Ray-Ban Meta lineup with a built-in camera and AI features such as translation. While Nothing as an avid Android user might seem like one to hop on the Android XR train, it sounds like that’s probably not the case given Quandt says these are bringing integration with ChatGPT rather than Gemini. That’s not a new pivot on Nothing’s part, though, as the company has been building out ChatGPT integration for a while in its other products.
The other pair of smart glasses, though, would take a much simpler approach.
These would work as a pair of headphones with the ability to take calls and interact with your phone’s voice assistant, but they’d lack a camera or any direct AI integrations. Both models are said to offer photochromic lenses, otherwise known as “transition” lenses and commonly found on other smart glasses.
Prior reporting on Nothing’s efforts to build smart glasses pinned a release date sometime in 2027. The dual strategy here is certainly interesting, especially given a recent report that suggested Nothing would go all-in on AI devices going forward.
