Nest’s Halloween doorbell chimes are live now through November 1

With Halloween just a couple of weeks away, it’s the perfect time to make sure you’re ready for trick-or-treaters. It’s not enough just to buy candy in bulk, of course; you’ll also need to make sure your home feels appropriately spooky, and with Nest’s annual Halloween doorbell chimes now available, the hardest part is already done for you.

Google began rolling out its Halloween-themed doorbell chimes to users yesterday, as spotted by 9to5’s Ben Schoon. This year includes nine different tones to swap between at any time, and thanks to a recent app update from Google, you can preview them without having to ring your own doorbell. As with all of Nest’s seasonal chimes, you’ll find these settings available in the Home app under “Seasonal themes.” You should see a prompt right from the main page in the app.

If you’re looking to make the most of this year’s spooky chimes, though, make sure you set it up as soon as possible. With Halloween on a Saturday this year, these are set to wrap up more or less immediately on November 1st — you know, All Saint’s Day…month. And if you don’t plan on handing out candy to any trick-or-treaters this year, don’t forget your chime is easily disabled from the settings menu.
