The Moto Tag 2 was always supposed to be $30, but a long-running introductory discount left the Find Hub tracker cheaper. Now, that deal has ended.
Moto Tag 2 is inarguably the most capable tracker for Android’s Find Hub network thanks in no small part to its inclusion of UWB. On top of Bluetooth pings for general location, the tracker also lets you pinpoint its exact location when you get up close.
That’s why its $20 introductory price was so attractive.
The discount brought its price below virtually every other Android Find Hub tracker on the market despite the added hardware. But that price has now vanished from both Motorola’s website and from Amazon, where Moto Tag 2 is now sold for $29.99. A 4-pack costs $100, but Amazon is still selling it for less.
It’s still a good value at that price – especially the 4-pack deal at Amazon – but the $10 hike certainly stings for anyone who waiting too long to score the initial price point. Even at $30, though, Moto Tag 2 remains a great value. Comparable trackers from Pebblebee and Chipolo are sold for $35 or even $40, and those don’t even have UWB. You will still need some sort of add-on if you want to mount the Moto Tag 2 to a keychain or backpack, though, as the AirTag-like form factor lacks any built-in mounting points.
Meanwhile, there’s finally another UWB tracker on the horizon in Google’s Pixel Tag. The oblong tracker was announced back in August and is set to go on sale for the same $29.99 as the Moto Tag 2 was always supposed to sell for. It’s entirely possible that Motorola will drop that price again by the time Google launches its option, but these two are currently set to battle at the same price point.
