Some Galaxy S26 phones are basically paperweights while Samsung fixes a setup bug

A bug is affecting some Galaxy S26 phones that leaves them essentially useless due to a setup problem.

If you can’t get through the initial setup process on your smartphone, it might as well be an expensive paperweight. And that’s exactly the problem right now on some Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra devices, as a bug is causing the setup process to get stuck and leave the device unable to proceed.

Affected devices are left seeing an error saying that “the webpage is unavailable” for an account page on Samsung’s website. This seems to happen during setup, meaning you probably won’t run into the problem unless you reset your device.

The issue was reported on Samsung’s forums (via SammyFans) with a Samsung representative confirming the cause (translated):

Upon reviewing the details you provided, it appears there is an issue following the device UI 9.0 update. The development team has confirmed that this issue occurs when using an unstable system WebView on certain networks…

Apparently, switching from Wi-Fi to mobile data can serve as a workaround, but your results may vary.
