Wyze Bulb Cam upgraded with better camera, 360-degree rotation, and color lights

Following up on one of our favorite smart home gadgets of last year, the Wyze Bulb Cam Pan Color adds a more powerful camera and a color light bulb.

The Wyze Bulb Cam is a simple pitch. Take a normal light bulb socket, add a camera and a controllable light to it. It’s effective and easy to set up, and something we really enjoyed while spending some time with it last year.

Now, Wyze is delivering an upgrade.

The Wyze Bulb Cam Pan Color brings exactly what the name implies – a pan camera and a color light bulb. The $99 camera works in the same way, screwing into an E26 light bulb socket and needing no additional power or setup. Just screw it in, flip the switch, and pair it to your app.

The new additions here include 360-degree motion tracking through the motorized base, as well as 180-degree tilt. That can automatically track subjects or switch between preset waypoints. The camera itself is also upgraded with color night vision and a 2.5K sensor.

The light bulb is also massively upgraded, jumping from max brightness of 800 lumens up to 1,100 lumens. It’s also full RGB now, supporting “16 million colors” and a white range from 1800K to 6500K. You can also pair additional bulbs.

As with the prior model, there’s local microSD card storage on top of Wyze’s cloud-backed Cam Plus subscription.

Meanwhile, you can still buy the existing Wyze Bulb Cam for just shy of $50 if you don’t need the added functionality.
