LG announces April 28 press event, likely for launch of its G4 flagship

LG this evening has sent invites to events being held simultaneously on April 28th and April 29th in New York, London, Paris, Seoul, Singapore, and Istanbul. At these events, LG will most likely launch its next flagship smartphone, anticipated to be the G4. The invite itself is relatively minimalist, with the tagline reading, “See the great, feel the great.”

Earlier this month, a report emerged claiming that LG had pushed the launch of its 2015 flagship device into April to avoid competition from Samsung and HTC. Last year, LG sent out a similarly designed invite for events that ended up being for the launch of the G3 flagship. These factors make it almost guaranteed that LG will launch the G4 at this event next month.

As for what LG has planned for its 2015 flagship, rumors have suggested that the device will be “radically different” than its predecessor with a “metal-mixtured” body and a design similar to that of the G Flex 2. Separately, others have claimed that LG is also planning to launch a Note variant of the G4 that’s more powerful and has a stylus, although it’s unclear when that device will launch or if it will launch.

We’ll have coverage of LG’s event on April 28/29th and subsequent coverage of whatever the company announces, so stay tuned.
