Topping off the Google I/O keynote, Sundar Pichai announced that HBO NOW for Android is coming to the Google Play Store. The standalone subscription version of HBO launched earlier this year and offers the premium network’s movies and TV shows online without the need for a cable subscription. Instead, users can subscribe to HBO NOW for a monthly fee and access the service online and on mobile devices. HBO NOW for Android will include Chromecast support for watching content on your HDTV.
Availability and pricing for HBO NOW on Android wasn’t specifically announced during the keynote, but the service carries a $14.99/month subscription price on iOS. HBO NOW for Android joins the existing HBO GO Android app for cable subscribers.
Update: HBO says the app will be available this summer.
