Value for money in the smartphone industry has never been as good as it is now. As OnePlus revealed last week, it’s possible to bring specifications which we’d have considered top-tier just 12-18 months ago and sell them in a device half the price of today’s flagship phones. Samsung, it seems, is keen to follow suit with the follow up to its Galaxy A5. A benchmark result over at GFXBench suggests that we’ll see a phone — model number SM-A510F — launched by the Korean tech giant with a full HD screen…
According to the benchmark results, the next Galaxy A5 will feature a 5.2-inch 1080 x 1920 display, giving it a pixel density of 424ppi. With it being Samsung, it’s almost certainly going to be an AMOLED panel. Inside, there’s a Samsung Exynos 7 octa-core processor clocked at 1.6GHz. Memory is recorded at 1.8GB, suggesting it’ll be advertised as having 2GB RAM. Knowing Samsung’s history with bloatware, the 11GB available internal storage suggests that it’ll be sold as a 16GB storage model, with around 5GB used up out of the box.
Other specifications include a 12MP camera on the back capable of recording 1080p video and equipped with autofocus, face detection, touch focus and an LED flash of some kind. The front facing camera — also capable of 1080p video — is listed as 4.7MP.
Other details are scarce. While we can assume that — being an Alpha device — it’ll be constructed primarily from metal, but we can’t say for sure what the overall design and styling will look like. Conceivably, it could look like a the Galaxy S6 with rounded edges and antenna bands to follow in line with the rest of the company’s smartphones or, to keep it a little distinct, Sammy could opt to keep the flat, angular edges.
